Blinn College is a valuable part of the Bryan-College Station community. They are seeking to expand their local presence due to demand to accommodate more students. The following locations have been considered:
- Bryan at SH 6, SH 21, Austin Colony Pkwy and Old Reliance Rd
- College Station at SH 6 and Southwest Pkwy
The proposed Bryan campus accommodates Blinn's continued growth. The gift of 50 acres has been discussed since 2010 and federal funding was secured for the 7-lane overpass at SH 6/Old Reliance. The area was successfully annexed into the Bryan city limits and a 75' R.O.W. was built for power, sewer and water lines. Blinn would be given first right of refusal to an additional 50 acres. The site has four points of access: SH 6, SH 21, Austin Colony Pkwy, and Old Reliance Rd. There are no neighborhoods in close proximity and can accommodate 1,500 students by January 2015 and 3,500 by August 2015. This option would cost Blinn College approximately 2.5M in infrastructure expenses plus 7M to 9M for the buildings. Click here to see more details on the proposed Bryan location.
We support the Bryan location. This is a win for Blinn and a win for our neighborhoods.

The proposed College Station campus is located adjacent to Hwy 6, between Southwest Pkwy and St. Thomas Aquinas church. The site is surrounded by three long established neighborhoods including Emerald Forest, Raintree, and Windwood. This site already has a building (belonged to Lynntech, Inc.) and lab space, however both would need to be updated to accommodate the needs of professors and students and is land locked at about 50 acres. This option would cost Blinn College approximately 24.5M in infrastructure expenses and take 224K off the tax roll each year (about 130K from CSISD and 94K from Brazos County and the City of College Station). Additionally, the well established subdivisions around this site will see their property values plummet, stub streets built out and heavy traffic through our quiet neighborhoods.
We are against the College Station location. This is a huge loss for our neighborhoods.
